Welcome to my website!

I have always had the need to be creative, ever since I can remember. I think my initial discovery of this need probably occurred even before I entered kindergarten and experienced the joy of coloring with crayons.

Then I learned how to read, and a whole new world opened its golden door to me, taking me to faraway places and meeting people who I would never otherwise have the chance to meet. I was mesmerized by the magic and the power of the written word. When I was in the fourth grade, my teacher gave us the assignment of writing a creative story. I was to imagine that I was an inanimate object, and my story was entitled: “What it  Feels Like to be the Kitchen Sink.” I loved that assignment, and it opened the flood doors to my lifelong love affair with writing.

I continued to write poetry, short stories, and even kept a journal. After working for over twenty years as a registered nurse in the operating room, our three children are grown and I’ve retired. I now have returned to writing and I’m even in the process of writing my memoirs, in addition to another book, and am having a marvelous time doing both. I write in the genres of creative nonfiction, fiction, which includes some flash fiction, and poetry. I also write song lyrics, something which I have found that I enjoy immensely; but I shouldn’t have been surprised because I’ve always had a profound love of music, and combining writing and music came as naturally as breathing to me.

If you ask my husband, he’ll tell you that I spend most of my time sitting at my computer, and I enjoy every minute of it! There are so many stories to tell, so many poems to write, and yet, there’s so much more life to live!
